Classic Dinner Plate

I fell in love with Bennington's blue agate stoneware when I purchased 3 dinner plates at an estate sale. It is beautiful handmade stoneware with the energy of our forebears. We are so excited to finally have a full set. Thank You!

In 2003, while visiting Vermont for my mother's 55th Windsor H.S. class reunion, we stopped by your store in Bennington, VT. We fell in love with your tableware. We purchased place settings for 8 and several other baking and serving dishes. We have loved it every day since. It is as durable as it is beautiful, and this year it was time to replace the very few pieces that we lost over 22 years of daily use. We are very grateful to be able to keep loving your products for years to come!

In 1973, I treated myself to eight place settings of blue agate dishes, purchased from the Bennington factory store in Bennington. I had been cooped up for weeks with sick toddlers. This was a day out. I also bought a number of accessory pieces, many no longer made.

Now 52 years later one of those toddlers enjoys these dishes. They have held up well; some did get broken but most exist chip free.

I inherited from a Japanese friend her set of six Bennington dinner plates bought in the 1950s or 60s. They were seconds, five in the mustard color now called gold, and one green because she did not want everything to match up. I have had those plates for 30 years and loved them until a current friend pushed one off the counter and I watched it break into three pieces. One does not chastise friends so I said little and ordered two additional plates so that I would have a set. When the new plates arrived, lovely as expected, satisfactory to hold, the right color despite the years, they turned out to be an inch larger than those I already had. But I needed a set of six for dinner and so used them. I am not unhappy and am not complaining. But now the difference in the plates, which their original owner would have appreciated but is somewhat jarring to me, is size. Nonetheless, I am happy to have and use these. They join a small Bennington green pitcher I bought five years ago. This is intended as a report to you about your fine products: it is not a complaint. When next in Vermont, I will come buy another green pitcher. Thank you for letting me tell the story of my dinnerware.

I bought a complete set of Bennington Pottery dinnerware in blue agate over 10 years ago. Recently, I broke two plates and ordered replacements for them. The new plates match my set perfectly. The packing on the shipment was excellent and everything arrived as ordered.

Originally gifted as a wedding present 30+ years ago, I decided to purchase 3 more dinner plates to fill our 8' round table with enough matching place settings. Although expensive, the plates are handsome, unique, durable enough to be used without fear of loss, and, invaluably, with the hand of the maker apparent in each dish.

I bought my first set of this pottery (12 place settings!) more than 30 years ago! I am just now replacing some of the dinner and lunch plates. They are VERY chip resistant and perfect for everyday or dinner guests! Love these!

I have had the whole set and more of the Agate Bennington Pottery dishes for more than 10 years! I absolutely love them. They hold up wonderfully!!

I had bought 8 of the soup bowls in the blue agate and we love them. So then we decided to buy 4 plates and we love the high sides that keep your food right where it belongs!

I bought set for 4 of dinner plates, lunch plates, bowls and a couple mugs. It was our Christmas present to ourselves. We love them - they are pretty, a manageable weight (sturdy but not to heavy) and clean well. Love the green/black pattern.

Plates were packed very well when received. They stack nicely. So far they do not scratch & we have not chipped them. They appear to be durable, functional & very nice looking. We are very pleased that they are made here in the USA!

Just got the blue agate 10.5in dinner plates in and my wife loves them. I am thoroughly impressed with the packing. Could have dropped the box out of the truck on the highway and probably not broken a plate. Will be buying more in the future

I had previously purchased some of your Classic Dinner Plates and love them.What I like about them is that they are flat with a nice raised lip at the outer edge. Almost any other plates you buy from other manufacturers have the entire plate sloping towards the middle and then any liquids that your foods may have with them all run to the middle making a gooey mess in the middle of the plate.I hate that! Your plates do not do that.

Also these plates are very strong because I have accidentally banged the edges of the plates many times against hard surfaces such as other plates when taking them out of the dishwasher and not a single one of my older plates have chipped at all.These plates are worth what I paid for them.

Love the dinner plates. Have had this pattern for 15 years and would have no other pattern.....

I have owned a large set of Blue Agate dinnerware for over 30 years. We use, and enjoy it daily. Recently I have been replacing some pieces that have been chipped or broken. I am completely in love with my Bennington. It goes beautifully with my primitive country style. If space would allow, I would own the Tavern pattern also.

bought in white on white to see if i want this color for my dinner plates. i really like it but might go with a color. plate is very sturdy and nice to eat off of. it does have a slight issue of fitting in my Miele DW, the lip is a little wider than the dish slot, if i push it in, its ok, but it is something for me to consider.

Well, while I was shopping for a mixing bowl, I saw these dinner plates. A couple of the ones I had in my cupboard recently broke, so I decided to order 4 plates. I love splatter ware and the deep blue. The rims of the plates come up so food and liquids stay on the plate. They are working well!

We had previously given family members a set of Black On Slate for serving dessert dessert and tea or coffee. They really like their durability as will as their unusual pattern and texture. The fact that they are produced by American artisans is another plus. When we asked them if they would like any Bennington Potters products this year, dinner plates in Black On Slate was the response. When they arrived, we received their note saying how thrilled they were to received them.

We LOVE these plates! We received a set for Christmas last year, and they are perfect. My boyfriend and I are always trying to buy local in Vermont, and the Bennington Potters products are some of our favorites. My boyfriends parents also ordered a set after seeing how much we love them. We got the white glaze with one "accent" plate in the Elements Blue for fun. Can't say enough good things!

I needed to order Tavernware dinner plates for Thanksgiving -- Unfortunately they were unavailable but a very helpful woman I spoke with recommended the green plates to compliment my tavernware -- I ordered six of them and they complimented my tavernware beautifully! I love my bennington pottery -- I have a lot of it -- Thanks to whoever it was that I spoke with -- I got a lot of compliments at dinner!
